This mPAVIO portable video player on Akibalive is intriguing, not because of its features—with a relatively small 2.5-inch screen and 20GB hard drive, it looks a little awkward to use—but because of the mention of a ‘Mind Control Program (Mind Control Study Program)’ with no follow up information. Are the Japanese slowly prepping their society for the introduction of though-controlled giant mecha? If they self-fulfill that prophecy, they will officially become the best society.
One upside of the mPAVIO player, though, is the ability to play back not only MPEG 1/2/4 video, but DivX and open-source XviD, as well—something the Samsung Yepp YH-999 lacks (despite being much better looking). [Thanks, Bill!]

Update: Sadly, the “mind control” is just a crappy sound and light alpha-wave stimulator, like those on every other page of the Sharper Image catalog. [Thanks, Jim!]
