Toshiba’s playing hardball with its race to the next gen DVD format. The promise today is the world’s first PC able to read HD DVD discs to be introduced in Japan first in early next year. The drive will be slim, read-only and able to read conventional CD and DVD discs as well as HD DVD. Toshiba also claims that several HD DVD titles will be released in Japan by end of year. Take that Sony.
