More on the WinAmp Remote

A couple of readers wrote in regarding the WinAmp Remote Control:

From Jason Shellen: “The WinAmp controller you linked to is actually a Packard Bell Fast Media Remote. I have 2 of them. It’s a serial device because it was developed for Packard Bell computers made back before the era of USB. Circa 1995. It doesn’t really work well, perhaps the new software being developed helps, but if barely worked with the PB’s.”

And from Olivier Travers, a suggestion for a better remote: “The remote for PCs is ATI’s Remote Wonder. Works with Winamp, but also Power DVD Player and other apps. And it uses RF (through a small USB receiver), not IR, so you don’t need line of sight.”
