A supposed Sprint rep spills some of the Pre's more mundane niceties and details: For one, it creates a "Palm profile" that allows OTA syncing, online data backup and remote wipe.

Also not entirely unexpected, it'll require a Simply Everything or Business Essentials data plan package from Sprint, though it doesn't support Sprint's own apps, like Sprint Music. It is a webby web smartphone, after all. On the past meets present side, though, if you've been slugging it out with your old-school Palm gear, you'll be able to transfer the data to your Pre.

DISCUSSION

So can I get this without sprint's "SIMPLY EVERYTHING" plan? This smells like a rat to me. If I don't get the "SIMPLY EVERYTHING" plan, how complicated will thing become?

I've said it once and I'll say it again. I hope Sprint doesn't screw this up like they do everything else. I don't know what the opposite of the Midas Touch is, but Sprint seems to have it.
