MSMobiles, the only tech site run by a real, live madman (mad about Windows Mobile, of course!), is reporting details of the hybrid offspring of the hit Motorola RAZR and the unreleased-in-the-States MPx smartphone. The new hybrid will be called the ‘MPx4,’ feature a RAZR-like flat design, but no built-in QWERTY keyboard (the very thing that makes the MPx unique). Essentially, it’s a RAZR running Windows Mobile, with an updated screen and camera, as well as built-in Wi-Fi. It sounds hotish, but you people know how I feel about the lack of QWERTY keyboards in smartphones (I need thumbkeys; it’s in my blood).
Still, lots of you can handle smartphones without keyboards, and if the MPx4 is everything MSMobiles says it is, I’d expect it to be very popular come October, when it is set to be release on Cingular (we can presume from the EDGE support). Now just give me the MPx5 with a tiny, thin keyboard.

Update: I’ve been informed this is an April Fools prank. Get it, it’s not April, see, and… Yeah, it’s dumb. Anyway, it’s all lies! (There is an MPx/RAZR Hybrid in the works at Moto, though, just not this.)
