More than one of you have written to let us know that Radio Shack of all places has gotten the Verizon/Motorola V710 in stock; you can purchase them as we speak. Of course, this is only in the Northeast, where Verizon actually provides service, but if you’ve been itching to get your hands on it, RatShack is probably your best chance for now.
Details on the V710 Bluetooth weirdnesses inside.
Also, people have been testing the Bluetooth functionality of the phone, and it looks like most basic functions are available (you can pair it up with non-Motorola devices, for instance), but Shawn Johnson, who already has a V710, writes with this bit of clarification:
I was reading your article on the v710. I have a v710 I have had it for a few weeks.
I can tell you that, the Bluetooth services are few, you can use the phone as a modem, but with out the mobile phonetools software you can’t even sync phone numbers and other contact information, the software doesn’t run on OSX, so no Mac support. the Bluetooth stack there are using is missing a important protocol(obex). This really limits the Bluetooth use of this phone.
BTW I have a 128mb transflash memory card, and the phones doesn’t play mp3 either, I am not sure what’s the story with that.
