The MPAA’s latest software offering (developed by DtecNet. Get it?) takes a very heavy “delete now, ask questions later” approach, offering parents the ability to “detect” allegedly evil music or video files on any computers their pirating hellspawns might have had access to. Parent File Scan, as it’s called, “does not distinguish between legal and illegal copies.” Essentially, it’s the Kujo form of that Windows dog search companion, with a scent for MP3s and AVIs, ready to piss on your whole collection. And then delete it. That’ll teach those kids to appreciate their culture!
