Back in college I took an undergrad law course that devoted a day to looking at silly old laws that were still on the books. One of the laws stated that it was illegal to serve margarine in any Wisconsin restaurant without also offering customers butter. The whole class thought it was hilarious. And then, not a few weeks later, the state ran a sting operation, busting restaurants for serving margarine.
Moral of the story? Be careful about those silly old laws that are still on the books. They can sometimes get you into big trouble.
Which brings us to my new favorite Twitter account: @CrimeADay. Don't even think about profiting from Woodsy the Owl or his signature catchphrase, "Give a Hoot, Don't Pollute." You could get a fine and up to 6 months in prison.
The account just launched less than a week ago, so in staying true to its name, it doesn't have many tweets. But so far, they're pretty entertaining in that whole "I can't believe this is actually a law" kind of way.
