Evolve Solutions has developed an USB-enabled universal remote that allows users to download Nascar news, schedules, and standings for display on an integrated LCD. While the usefulness and convenience is certainly impeded by the lack of a wireless interface (ironic, considering it’s a remote), for the dedicated Nascar fan, trying to minimize his trips away from the Barcalounger, it could be a useful tool. Still, live updates with race information, alerts of breaking news, and the like would make this much more interesting. At least along with the $50 price tag you get free information updates.
I’m not a big Nascar fan — I like my race cars to turn both ways, usually around cones — but there’s no denying that Nascar is a hugely popular sport, and as with anything popular, companies are going to pander to the market. Evolve Solutions got pretty close with this one.
