I’m not sure exactly how new this model is (fairly, if I babel correctly), but I’ve not seen it before, so you get to check it out with me. The NEC Lavie N is an iBook-esque 12-inch laptop with a 1280 by 768 widescreen LCD, 1.5 GHz Pentium M, Centrino 802.11b/g, and a slot-loading multiformat DVD burner. The most interesting thing about the Lavie N—and I have to admit, the most puzzling—is the way it docks to recharge by sliding into a PDA-like cradle. I think the idea might be to use it as a picture frame when its not in use, or perhaps to attach an external keyboard and mouse and use it as an elevated screen. I’m not sure either way, but for 185,115 you can buy one and figure it out. (Thanks, Mark!)
