Watch the new trailer for Lars von Trier’s beautifully shot apocalypse movie, Melancholia, which takes place at the world’s fanciest wedding, on the eve of the apocalypse.
The killer cast includes Kirsten Dunst, Kiefer Sutherland, Alexander Skarsgård, John Hurt and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Here’s the synopsis: “Two sisters find their already strained relationship challenged as a mysterious new planet threatens to collide into the Earth.” But (like all things Lars von Trier) there’s a whole lot more brewing underneath the surface. Melancholia will screen at TIFF and the New York Film Festival, before getting limited theatrical release, plus Video on Demand, on October 7th.
