NHK is working on UltraHD with 22.2 multichannel sound—read that again: 22.2 channels—and 16 times the resolution of current HD. That means you’ll be able to see every crease and mole on Terri Hatcher’s aged forehead during the 25th season of Desperate Housewives.

This crazy HD stuff won’t be around for another 20 years, so don’t get excited just yet. Next up? 3D HD. Mmmm…
