Nikon has formally announced two new DSLRs, the Nikon D70s and the D50. The D70s is an update to the popular D70, adding a larger LCD screen and a better battery, among other things. The D50 [pictured] is a (very slightly) scaled down version of the D70 with a 6.1-megapixel sensor. It uses SD cards instead of CompactFlash, as well. While we know the D70s will be available for $1,200 with lens, I still can’t find any information about pricing and availability about the D50. I would expect an easily sub-$1,000 price (with lens) and a similar early May release. DPReview says $900 in June.
