Last Friday shareholders approved the sale of Psion’s 31 per cent stake in the Symbian OS to Nokia.
Why should you care? The Symbian OS is behind the Series 60 interface in the Nokia 7650, 3650, 3660, 6600 and more devices to come. Nokia’s implementation of Symbian is far more usable than any others to date. Having majority control of the underlying OS ought to result in even better design and a broader range of products using Series 60 and Symbian.
