Nokia's Wibree spec got the official OK from the Bluetooth SIG today, making Wibree part of the Bluetooth standard. Wibree basically lets low-powered gadgets like heart rate monitors and watches in on the wireless fun since Wibree radios use less power than today's Bluetooth radios. The first Wibree products are expected to roll out by 2008.
another wireless protocol, Tommasta? did you read the release? it's being absorbed into the existing bluetooth standard. so this is just part of bluetooth now.
wibree was always meant to complement bluetooth, and was aimed at low power devices, like wireless sensors and such.
