This fifty-five foot sperm whale whale is actually a sculpture. The cleanup workers? Those are actors.

The sculpture was recently displayed along the banks of the Thames for the Greenwich_Docklands International Festival, though it has since been moved to the Old Royal Naval College in London, where it’ll be on display through tomorrow, Friday June 29th.

This super-real, art installation is the work of the Belgian arts collective Captain Boomer, created in collaboration with Zephyr Wildlife Reconstruction. The sculpture will be moved to the Old Royal Naval College from Friday 21 June where GDIF audiences will be able to see it as part of our Greenwich Fair programme.

This beaching is a reminder that the sea is always a presence in Greenwich. The event will be chronicled by GDIF writer in residence Lemn Sissay.
