Oh-So-Beautiful Colander Table Makes Objects Float, Bank Accounts Sink

I'm in love with the colander table by Daniel Rohr, a desk made out of a single piece of polished aluminum, a block that weighs 899 pounds before it's carved using CNC milling. The making of video is absolutely hypnotizing:

The table takes four weeks to build from beginning to end, with a machine making its smoothly curved shape, punctured with 909 holes. According to Rohr, the curved design will fool you into thinking that any object placed on the top glass is floating over its surface.

Of course, knowing that it takes that time to complete, and the fact that there are only ten units in the planet, its price alone will probably make you think that the objects, the sofa, your dog, and your ass are floating too. Into the freaking stratosphere. [Daniel Rohr via Mocoloco]
