R2-D2 is one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars universe and one of the most recognizable robots in cinema history. The LEGO version is 1,050 pieces of brick-built detail that measures 9 inches tall, rotates its head 360 degrees, deploys a third leg, and comes with an R2-D2 information plaque and a 25th anniversary Darth Malak minifigure on a dedicated stand. Amazon currently has it at $79, down from its regular $99 which is the lowest price this set has ever reached and $20 below what LEGO’s official website charges for the same product.

1,050 pieces, a rotating head, deployable tools, and a Darth Malak minifigure included

The finished R2-D2 model includes the details that make the character recognizable: the rotating dome head turns the full 360 degrees, the retractable third leg deploys for the classic tripod stance, and attachable tools and a periscope complete the screen-accurate look. At 9 inches tall, 6 inches wide, and 4 inches deep, the model is substantial enough to anchor a shelf or desk without getting lost among other objects. The information plaque and 25th anniversary display stand finish the presentation with the kind of intentional detail that makes the difference between a set that looks built and one that looks designed for display.

The Darth Malak minifigure is the collectible detail that gives this release added value for serious Star Wars fans. Darth Malak, the Sith Lord from the Knights of the Old Republic games, appears rarely in LEGO form, and the 25th anniversary branding marks this specific release as a commemorative edition rather than a standard catalog set. The dedicated stand with the 25th anniversary logo displays the minifigure separately from the R2-D2 model, which gives both elements their own space in a display rather than competing for attention.

The build is aimed at ages 10 and up with an intermediate level of complexity that makes it accessible to younger builders while remaining detailed enough to engage experienced adult builders. The LEGO Builder app provides 3D interactive instructions with zoom and rotation for anyone who prefers building on screen.

LEGO’s official website sells this set at $99 without the current discount. Amazon’s $79 price is the record low, a gap that LEGO.com has not matched at any point since the set launched. With 4.9 stars from nearly 2,500 reviews and more than 3,000 units sold last month, it is one of the highest-rated LEGO sets currently available on Amazon.
