The Panasonic B-flat Tube CQ-EX5500D claims to be the world’s first car receiver with a built-in vacuum tube, a claim I have very little trouble believing. The golden double-high unit also plays MP3s (from CD-R) and has built-in amplification of 45 watts on each of 4 channels. Looks to have launched last year, but I must have missed it. It’s gorgeous, although it seems it might clash with, I don’t know, every single car dashboard ever. (Thanks, Alvarez!)
