It's nice that a few of the camera companies are gracing us with new models before the big Photo Marketing Show in February, and this Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 is a nice addition to its digital camera line. First off, it's got a Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens system and a 12x optical zoom, as well as Panasonic's patented MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer, which uses a gyrosensor to detect and compensate for hand movement by shifting internal lens elements. They are SO lucky they got the Image Stabilizer name first! And at 6 megapixels, it's also pretty compact. Other features include a High Sensitivity Mode which suppresses blur caused by quick moving stuff, selectable AF settings, 16 scene modes, 4x digital zoom, color viewfinder, 2.5-inch LCD monitor, and VGA motion image recording. But it looks like the best part of this camera is the price. Just $400 for a fully-featured camera. On sale in March.
