“I am the very model of a modern manufacturer…” so begins song number 13 of the famous DV opera The Pirates of Pentax. Little wonder, Pentax has been churning out quality products for years, with the somewhat retro-styled MX4 (which looks like a cross between a pistol-grip Super8 and some random Star Wars weapon) as one of their newer additions. Capable of four-megapixel stills and 10x optical zoom, she only does video at 640 by 480 (30 fps) and stores everyting on Secure Digital, so clearly there are some sacrifices—1GB of MPEG4 isn’t too bad, though, and presumably the camera will take SD cards as big as you can feed it.
