Artists from around the world gathered in Pörtschach am Wörthersee, Austria earlier this month to partake in the 16th annual World Bodypainting Festival – and good god, were this year’s entries astounding. (Remember: the canvas is literally bare human skin and is therefore potentially NSFW.)
Subject matter at this year’s festival ranged from the monstrous to the surreal, but every entry we’ve laid eyes on has been utterly captivating in its own way. Below are a few of our favorites, but you’ll want to visit the festival’s website to really see why the competition is regarded as the “Mecca of Bodypainting.”
