Coming out of the Philips/Nike camp this summer is the PSA010 hard disk MP3 player, intended for those of you wanting to do more than vigorously stroll while testing the limits of hard drive durability. Claiming to be the first hard disk able to cope with being bounced around on a runner’s hip, the player uses a buffer system to slurp up and store music, allowing the hard disk to power down more frequently. Philips/Nike says the the entire process will only take about thirty seconds, which is decidedly not-suck, but then again, that’s what most hard disk players already do. The current model offers three gigs of storage space and a ten-hour battery life with MP3 and VMA capability. It looks lovely, but we’d like more gritty technical details (and a better pic).
