It's been a while since we've been impressed by a portable DVD player...as in forever. But with a slight design alteration, the Philips PET830 gives some hope to a formerly dead end of electronics.

Add in DivX, MPEG4, MP3 and WMA support and the PET830 is almost as good at playing media as the laptop you'll purchase instead. No pricing info yet.

Wow that thing's a beauty. In the glossy photoshop kind of way =P. My mom got a Sony one before the summer break (for waiting in the car when there isn't a newspaper around, etc.), and that probably pales tenfold in comparison with this one. That is, if this Philips doesn't play grain-ily (if that's a word), hold only a 3 hour charge, weighs like a beast, and takes forever to read discs, especially for photos. I'm quite interested in the specs.
