Pioneer has overhauled their plasma display technology by recreating and re-engineering the panel, color filter and ASIC video processor in the plasma. The new technology will provide deeper blacks, richer color and better contrast. So good, in fact, that Pioneer says it cannot be measured. Hmm….
This new plasma technology will be hitting the U.S. market this summer. It likely won’t be cheap, either, as Pioneer said that they did not set out to make the largest or cheapest plasma display, but the best quality. Supposedly the picture quality from this new and improved Pioneer plasma is better than the missing-in-action SED and latest LCD technologies. Pioneer will be having a side by side comparison at their booth when the show floor opens, tomorrow.
