PlayLater Is Like DVR for Online Video

PlayLater is a new service that takes the idea of a DVR and brings it to online video. With it, you can record movies or shows from nearly any website to watch later (or offline).

The software works for PC and records whatever you queue up (from Netflix to Hulu to Comedy Central to MTV and more) just like a DVR would. It's actually quite startling, having the option to record your favorite movies for offline access. And like a DVR, it records everything as if you were watching it live—so there'll be online commercials you have to fast forward through.

On the PC, you can only playback the movie using Windows Media Player. If you transfer the movie to another device, you'd need PlayOn's, the streaming company behind PlayLater, own app. PlayLater is $5 a month or $50 a year. The first 5,000 people who sign up get access to the closed beta for a month. [PlayLater]
