Pope Francis to Teens: Get Off Your Phones

During a three-day long celebration of the most blessed group of people on Earth—teens, obviously—Pope Francis dispensed some advice that was very much not lit.

“Your happiness has no price. It cannot be bought and sold: it is not an application you download on a mobile phone,” His Holiness said on Sunday, according to Agence France-Presse. “Even the latest version cannot help you to grow and become free in love.”

“GOD, DAD, JUST LET ME LIVE MY LIFE, UGH,” said every teen in attendance, probably. (Either that or, “Fuck me daddy.”)

But despite his dad-like viewpoint, the Pope is no stranger to digital hoodwinks. He recently launched his own Instagram account, and he’s a big fan of the selfie. What happened to practicing what you preach, dad?

To get some perspective on the issue, I asked Gizmodo’s own resident teen William Turton what he thought about the comments. I was disappointed to learn that he—God forbid—agrees with the Pope.

And there you have it, straight from the mouth of a teen himself.
