The posthumous appreciation of celebrity chef, author, and TV star Anthony Bourdain, who died in 2018, continues with Get Jiro, Adult Swim‘s new animated adaptation of Bourdain and Joel Rose’s Vertigo graphic novel with art by Langdon Foss. A trailer arrived today, and it’s age-restricted—most likely because of how violent it is, but there’s a fair amount of delicious food porn involved too. If you’re hungry, you’ve been warned.

Check it out, but do not add soy sauce:

“From Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios and starring Brian Tee (Chicago Med), Get Jiro transports viewers to a post-apocalyptic, near-future Los Angeles where culinary culture reigns supreme and the world’s most powerful figures are chefs,” reads an Adult Swim press release. “In this society where food is both currency and a demarcation of class, the mysterious sushi chef Jiro (Tee) sets out on a quest for vengeance.”

The cast also features Titus Welliver (Bosch: Legacy), Alison Pill (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), and Justin Kirk (Weeds).

“Like everything Bourdain did, this story starts with food and then generously reaches out into all directions to cover culture, obsession, and what makes humanity problematic but, in the end, inspiring,” Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen said in the release.

Get your sushi skills in order by October 3, which is when Get Jiro arrives on Adult Swim as part of the Toonami programming block. It will also stream the following day on HBO Max.
