It’s been six years since Rise of the Planet of the Apes started the whole Planet of the Apes prequel world. And a lot has happened in that time, especially since there’s a fair bit of time-jumping between each of the movies. If you, like me, can only vaguely remember how we got from Rise to War, then this is the video for you.
It’s kind of a trip to see how far we’ve come from 2011’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which was pretty much set in our world (granted, one where James Franco is a scientist), to this year’s War for the Planet of the Apes, which seems to be set just before apes take over the world. Even so, this primer doesn’t cover everything. Koba’s death, how and why it happened, is barely touched on, despite it having a huge affect on Caesar.
