Research concludes pollution won’t turn Earth into Venus—the sun will

A new research paper published in Nature Geocience claims “it’s likely impossible for human activity to induce a runaway greenhouse effect,” which is what turned Venus into a lifeless toxic hell. That would require “burning 10 times more” our fossil fuel reserves. The sun, however, will do it sooner than we thought.

Of course, the study only contemplates the effect of the sun’s gradually increasing radiation and atmospheric carbon dioxide gas pollution. While it will not start this apocalyptic effect, atmospheric pollution—as anyone who lives in any big city knows—still poisons humans and animals every day with CO2, lead and other chemical contaminants, causing cancer and many other diseases. And there are many other ways to screw the planet at a global scale, with liquid and solid waste that pollutes water and land. Don’t feel useless, fellow humans, we can still screw it all!
