Shinya Matsuyama and Makoto Hirahara have designed a cube-shaped lamp that can sense color and then recreate that color. It is technically not a camera, but it is being described as a simple one-pixel camera anyway. It works with a switch on the bottom and red, blue and green LEDs. When the switch is pressed, the LEDs light up sequentially and determine the closest color by analyzing reflected light. When more than one color is analyzed, an average—most likely puke brown—color is displayed.
