JOEL JOHNSON — C|Net has a nice overview on the encroaching ‘personal robot’ industry, detailing everything from the successful iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaner to military bots in the field today. Most of the robots showcased will be familiar to Gizmodo readers, but a few like the Pyxis Helpmate — a mobile, intelligent medical unit for transporting records and hospital supplies from station to station — haven’t had as much publicity since they are aimed toward industrial, rather than home, use.
