Add dual-core Tegra 2 innards to the list of things we now know about LG’s impending tablet—which is due in January in an 8.9-inch size. The leak came from an LG rep, who also said it’d run Honeycomb.

It’s not the first time an LG rep has been caught with his lips moving. Their VP of Marketing said earlier that “our tablet will be better than the iPad,” and will be “surprisingly productive.”

I’m getting kinda antsy about this “Optimus Pad.” While the Samsung Galaxy Tab hasn’t been reviewed all that well so far, I do think Android is well-suited to tablets—but it’s just a matter of getting the right version and UI working in harmony together. Honeycomb, which we don’t know all that much about so far, is said to be an OS version made specifically for tablets. [MK via Engadget]
