Rumor: Nextel Working With Motorola on “Service Master” Bluetooth Phone

One of our more reliable tipsters had this little nugget to drop. Take it for what it’s worth:

I was talking to guy in a waiting room while we were both getting our cars serviced. Turns out he is some sort of higher up corporate level Nextel employee and he’s impressed that my dad’s business is on Nextel.

So I said to the guy, “When are you gonna finally get on the Bluetooth bandwagon?”

He told me they have a Bluetooth phone in the pipeline they are calling the “Service Master” that they developed with Motorola (surprise). Basically he said the only reason they are coming out with it is that Stanley Steamer, ChemLawn, and a few other companies comprising some 30,000 accounts demanded the bluetooth technology from Nextel and that’s a big chunk of their business so they decided to keep them happy.

He didn’t give a time frame for the release of the phone but indicated that the named businesses would be the first to get them.
