Russian regional president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov claims he was abducted by aliens. Now, a Russian MP has asked President Dmitry Medvedev to investigate his claims to make sure he didn't give any state secrets to the space visitors.

MP Andre Lebedev is not just asking whether Mr Ilyumzhinov is fit to govern.

He is also concerned that, if he was abducted, he may have revealed details about his job and state secrets.

The MP has written a letter to Mr Medvedev raising a list of his concerns.

In his letter he says that - assuming the whole thing was not just a bad joke - it was an historic event and should have been reported to the Kremlin.

He also asks if there are official guidelines for what government officials should do if contacted by aliens, especially if those officials have access to state secrets.

Ho-kay! Apparently, Ilyumzhinov is the president of the World Chess Federation, spending millions of dollars to turn his republic into the center of the chess world. Also, it turns out, he is crazy. But hey, if the government is investigating it seriously, who's the crazy one? HAS THE WHOLE WORLD GONE MAD?! [Slashdot via Make]

I'd like to think the Russians have something better to do than this...

Do people honestly think that the world governments are hiding the existence of aliens and, the bigger leap, that the aliens have actually been to Earth? LMFAO! If true, this is the ONLY secret any and all governments have been able to keep. I'm sure aliens live somewhere out there, the universe is too big for it to just be Earth, but come on. Too much ScyFy for you all.
