In 2002, it looked like we might get a Buffy the Vampire Slayer animated series, but it ultimately never materialized. This animated intro imagines the cartoon series we never got—and it’s jammed with Buffy Easter eggs.
Stephen Byrne, who brought us Doctor Who in the style of Gravity Falls and Disney-style Firefly characters, created this Buffy animated intro. It’s a wonderfully fun animation, packed with nods to the TV series, as well as nods to a few other other Joss Whedon works.
The actual Buffy cartoon, which would have been set during the first season, had a rather darker look:
