Samsung has announced the Digimax A402, a 4.2-megapixel camera with a 5x digital zoom—no optical zoom to be had. That means, effectively, that I can’t imagine any reason whatsoever to buy one, except that it might be sort of cheap. Still, releasing a digital camera these days without optical zoom—when even cameraphones are starting to get optical lenses—is sort of dumb. I’m sure now that I’ve said that they’ll sell millions.
