It’s crazy to think that we are already eight generations into Samsung’s lineup of foldable smartphones. It’s been iterated on plenty and now’s a great time to dip in as Amazon has a couple configurations of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra on sale.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra comes in two choices of storage capacities. The 256GB model normally sells for $2,100. That one is now 14% off, taking the price down by $300. It’s now listed at only $1,800 at Amazon. If you need more space to store photos, videos, and all you apps, you can instead opt for the 512GB model. This one is usually sold at $2,300. It’s 13% discount also takes this one down by $300, leaving you only having to pay an even $2,000.

The interesting thing here about this Amazon deal is that now the Ultra model of the Galaxy Z Fold8 is being sold for less than the regular version of the Z Fold8. The standard model is also available in either 256GB or 512GB. The former is listed at $1,900 while the latter is listed at $2,100. So in either case, the base model is now $100 more expensive than the Ultra.

With the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, you’re getting a larger display, better cameras, and a longer battery life. On paper, it’s the better phone. Though, I can’t help but wonder if Samsung customers are more interested in the standard model due to it’s new form.

Galaxy Z Fold8 vs. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra folds out the way previous generations of the Z Fold had— taking on roughly the same aspect ratio as other popular smart phones when closed, then opening up to a larger yet still portrait-oriented screen. The new standard Galaxy Z Fold8’s proportions when closed are more like a passport. Then, once opened, it reveals a landscape-oriented tablet-like interface. I wouldn’t be surprised if that change is attracting more interest, hence Samsung reducing the price of the Ultra model so close to its initial release in order to move units.

With the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, you are still getting an absolute top tier device. The phone is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 that can handle gaming and multitasking while keeping everything running smoothly. The 50MP camera system is capable of some stunning photography and you can view your shots nicely on the expansive screen. Plus the 4,800mAh battery is built to last you all day while being able to recharge quickly at up to 45W.
