Samsungs Home Theater in a Box Solutions Support USB Host

Although we’ll still err on the side of caution and recommending buying your speakers and amplifier separate from your DVD unit, Samsung’s new “home theater in a box” setups do have a wealth of extra functionality, including HDMI connections, video upscaling, and USB Host functions that allow you to plug cameras and portable devices directly to them, allowing for the playback of Divx and MP3s. Pretty slick stuff (but we still say buy separate, for the sake of easy future upgrades).

Samsung USA “USB Host Play” DivX/DVD/WMA Home Theater System Lineup Impresses [eHomeUpgrade]

Update: Chanvit clarifies the Divx playing: “Just wanted to point out that the Samsung Systems recently posted do not support Divx or any video formats through the “USB Host Play” feature. That port will only play music and picture files; you’ll still have to burn CD’s/DVD’s to play movie file.” Thanks!
