Sanyo MM7400 on Sprint PCS

Here’s another “ruggedized” phone on Sprint PCS, the Sanyo MM7400. Not sure why, but it seems Sprint likes these rubber-encrusted mobiles more than other carriers (except for maybe Nextel). This one comes complete with 16MB RAM and a VGA camera with 3-mode flash. No Bluetooth, nothing really cutting edge to justify the $380 MSRP except it supports PCS Vision Multimedia Service (you know, Sprint’s ‘TV on your phone’), which isn’t very cutting edge anyway. The press release says the MM7400 is, “a fashionable mobile phone for style-loving users who want to make a statement with the look of their phone,” but it looks like any number of generic ruggedized PCS mobiles to me. If you want to “make a statement” with the look of your phone, and that statement isn’t, “I’m a prick,” you probably shouldn’t take your style advice from press releases.
