Since Star Wars Celebration, we learned that the Empire rebranded itself for The Force Awakens, Now, thanks to some leaked packaging for one of the First Order Stormtroopers, we know a bit more about how the post-Return of the Jedi world fits together.

This comes from the packaging of Hasbro’s upcoming Black Series Stormtrooper, which will be released at San Diego Comic Con in a couple of weeks. On it is a brief description of how the iconic Stormtrooper changed with time, and it reveals an interesting tidbit: the First Order isn’t necessarily The Empire.
From the description, it looks like the Empire was in disarray after the destruction of the Second Death Star, and it appears that they’ve reconfigured into a new, brutal regime.
