Shadow Robot Company Dexterous Hand

By

Reading time 1 minute

When I am lying on my death bed, I will be surrounded with dozens of disembodied robot arms, each holding a bit of fruit I will use to punctuate my conversation. “Nurse, more space jello, or else…” then I will blow a cryptic sequence into my straw, causing one of the arms to crush a melon or something while I mouth “Your head.” This will be a bad idea, mostly, because in the future all health workers will be cultured from sentient produce strains and my feeble raging will be seen as a hate crime, terminating my state-sponsored health care.

But if I wanted to practice now for a fantastic future (health care! ha!), the Shadow Robot Company is selling its ‘Dexterous Hand,’ laced with 186 force sensors and joints, powered by ‘air muscles.’ It’s available for purchase to “research and development organizations and other interested parties,” so, like, everybody.
