MAKE points us to a nice little step-by-step piece on creating your own Podcast Shower Radio, so to speak. It’s really just as simple as using an existing shower radio in conjunction with an FM transmitter hooked into your music player, but some people can’t figure this sort of thing out on their own. Its biggest shortcoming is the lack of range on the FM transmitter—he has to set it right next to the shower radio, and I presume, try not to get it wet at all. Since my bedroom comes up against my bathroom, I think I’d be better off using a 900 MHz-based wireless and waterproof speaker instead, like this $80 Accoustic Research model. (Or, if you don’t mind earbuds, Oregon Scientfic sells a $180 waterproof MP3/FM player.) Still, the low cost of a solution like this makes it somewhat attractive.
