We first mentioned the Slingbox Personal Broadcaster back in August but it’s looking like the device might actually materialize on store shelves sometime soon. The 1.5 pound Hershey-styled box has a built-in TV tuner and wired ethernet and allows you to dial up your home media selection from anywhere using any compatible device (cell phone, laptop, pda, etc.). The connection speed is analyzed and the signal is compressed and convenient slung over the interweb to your waiting device. Sling Media tells us it will cost about $250 and will ship soon. Also, what I first thought to be a strange engraving of the occult on top of the unit turns out to be boring phrases like “My Cable”, “My DVD” and the like, dashing my hopes that the box might aid in a simple s ance or two from a remote location.
