Sony’s going to make a hard drive-based MP3 player to compete with the iPod, according to this Times story, but they aren’t throwing in the towel with MiniDisc and MemoryStick, either. It makes sense; why wouldn’t Sony produce a little bit of everything, then let the consumer decide? All the new Sony devices will work with Sony Connect, their answer to Apple’s iTunes Music Store.
