The compact, all-in-one desktop PC seems like a chimerical fantasy for manufacturers. Seems that they’re either shoddy iMac clones or simply overpriced small form factor PCs with monitors glued on. Sony tries again with the VAIO VCG-M1, available in the UK for the equivalent of around $1500 since early last week (and in similar form here for a while). The review is pretty good, the only major complaints being no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and no hardcore gaming thanks to the relatively meager 64MB Radeon 9200, but for $1500 I think you could do a hell of a lot better. It wouldn’t necessarily be all-in-one, but paying a fat premium just to have your monitor and keyboard attached to your case is pretty daft in my opinion. Hell, there are similarly-priced laptops with better feature sets.
