The official announcement wasn t supposed to be until tomorrow, but Sony Japan is showing off its latest Clie handheld a day early. With its mini-keyboard and a landscape-style 480×320 pixel display that can rotate and twist around, the PEG-UX50’s clamshell design is reminiscent more of Sharp’s Zaurus line of handhelds than anything Sony has done. The UX50, which runs on Palm OS 5.2, also has both WiFi and Bluetooth (making it the first Palm-powered PDA to have both), 32MB of RAM, 22MB of flash ROM, a 0.3 megapixel digital camera, a slot for Memory Stick Pro cards. Comes out in Japan on August 9th, with release dates in the US and Europe expected soon after.
