So if you thought that Airider hovercraft vacuum cleaner was a pretty innovative idea, you might want to first check out these floating spherical Hoovers that go back as far as ’50s. Both the Constellation Model 822 (1954) and Model 862 (1959) used exhaust to float an a cushion of air for extra mobility. Not exactly the same concept, but certainly related. Be sure to check out the space-age design and advertisements for the Constellations, as well as the non-hovering but attractive nickel and brass clad Tellus Super Model 20, one of the first canister cleaners.
