Here’s yet another reason to pamper those pregnant ladies in your life. A new study from UC Irvine suggests stress during pregnancy may prematurely age the baby’s cells.

The study looked at 94 subjects in their mid-20s and found that prenatal stress caused white blood cells to age by 3.5 years. These cellular changes are also linked to chronic disease and shortened life span.

It’s not the worst outcome for a baby, but it should make pregnant women and their partners pause and think about their lifestyle. [Wired; Shutterstock/Michal Vitek]
