Ever since Tom Hardy dropped out of Suicide Squad, we've heard all sorts of names as a possible replacement Rick Flagg. And now it seems that Warner Bros. may finally be circling a replacement: Joel Kinnaman.
The Wrap reports that Kinnaman is "in negotiations" to play Rick Flagg. Of course, no one's confirming this and, even if it is true, negotiations could fail. Kinnaman's an interesting choice, given that the other names that had been mentioned early on — like Jake Gyllenhaal — are more well-known than Kinnaman, who is probably most recognizable from The Killing and 2014's RoboCop.
Kinnaman would join Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevigne, and Jared Leto. This could be a huge role for Kinnaman, as Rick Flagg is the leader of the Suicide Squad. Warner Bros. also has to be hoping to lock down the cast ASAP — Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and Jesse Eisenberg reprising his Lex Luthor role are still in the air — so that they can start on time. The production is scheduled to being in April, and Warner Bros. definitely doesn't want to have to postpone and lose any more high profile names due to scheduling conflicts.
